Next Book Club: Haruki Murakami (March 18)
“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”
“Silence, I discover, is something you can actually hear.”
"Like love, there can never be too much ‘good music.’"
– Haruki Murakami
As someone who describes himself as Novelist by Profession (Shokugyo Toshiteno Shosetsuka), he has inspired millions of people around the world through his words of wisdom and abstraction of life. From fictions, autobiographies to essays, Murakami has convinced us that focus and diligence should always go hand in hand with creativity.
Based on our majority votes last month, we'll discuss on some of Murakami's most popular works, including but not limited to:
Nejimaki-dori kuronikuru (The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle), Ichi-kyū-hachi-yon (1Q84), Hitsuji o meguru bōken (A Wild Sheep Chase), Fushigi na toshokan (The Strange Library), Absolutely on Music: Conversations with Seiji Ozawa, and Noruwei no mori (Norwegian Wood).
It will be easier for you to join in the discussion if you have read one of the author's books in advance. RSVP
AGENDA OF EVENT:
• Book reviews & discussion
• Book swap (bring your old book and expect to bring home a "new" one. We don't accept journals, magazines, cookbooks or textbooks)
• Secondhand book sale (from leftover swaps last year)
More details and RSVP can be made through this link: https://www.meetup.com/Hang-out-with-Jakarta-Book-Club/events/238236106/.
